Having seen what is on the market, Phil was not happy with some of the obvious faults with most Australian made horse floats, like the draw bar not being enclosed meaning that your horse could easily break its leg if it spooks whilst being tied up at the front, Like exposed sharp edges and hinges that can rip clean through your horses hide meaning expensive vet bills and leaving ugly visible scaring.

 

Having rather large standardbreds, the average horse float wasn't big enough so Phil being a trade qualified mechanical fitter and and a licenced electrician and happening to enjoy making things it was a natural progression into manufacture of horse floats.

Narooma Horse & Carriage specialise in extended floats with the following standard inclusions:

 

Full galvanised rolled hollow section frame, not cheap angle iron.

Zincanneal walls, glued to the frame, no more screws or rivets coming out.

Paint to your choice of colours.

Marine ply flooring with non slip equine rubber matting. Made from recycled tyres,  excellent antislip properties

All wet areas, timber and steel painted with tar (orminoid) for longevity

prop plate covered draw bar.

rocker roller suspension, no more wearing parts like slipper spring suspension wearing through the main bearer

10 inch electric brakes on each wheel.

2 spare 8 ply tyres, Not good only having one spare, especially when a long way from home.

Quick release chest bars.

'floating' and self centering horse divider bar.

extra large front window, your horse likes to see where he/she is going as well.

4 side windows on our extended floats, 2 on standard floats.

recessed tie up points, 2 on each side of the float (outside). 4 more inside the float

2 Jerry can holders in the tack box.

2 plastic jerry cans, we use ours for water, it is very handy having 40 litres of water on board, no  more running around trying to find a tap that works.
